AI adoption no longer just a Gen Z trend
Artificial intelligence is no longer the exclusive domain of digital natives. According to new research from SurveyMonkey, Millennials, Gen X and even Boomers are embracing AI tools at a surprising pace, reshaping the narrative around who’s driving innovation.
30% of Americans now use AI weekly, signaling a major shift in mainstream adoption.
Yet, nearly half remain skeptical about its benefits, showing that curiosity and caution go hand in hand.
And while Gen Z may have been the early adopters, older generations are quickly catching up, integrating AI into their daily routines for work, learning, and life management.
While this survey data is US-based, similar trends are emerging in Australia and New Zealand, where AI usage is increasing across all age groups.
In Australia, 49% of people report using generative AI, with Millennials and Gen X leading adoption for tasks like writing, brainstorming, travel planning and financial management.
In New Zealand, 96% of workers report increased efficiency thanks to AI, and national initiatives are underway to upskill individuals and promote responsible AI use across sectors.
This rise in mature users signals a broader cultural shift - AI is becoming a tool for everyone. Whether it’s for strategic work, creative problem-solving or simplifying everyday tasks, the future of AI is inclusive, cross-generational and rapidly evolving.
